What does the maternity nurse do?

Our Maternity Nurses

During your stay at the Maternity Care Hotel, our maternity nurses are available to you 24 hours a day to provide all the care and service you need tailored to your wishes so you can regain your strength and enjoy your maternity period.

Our nurses prioritise your recovery as well your and your baby’s health.

Daily (medical) checks are performed on both you and your baby.

For you this means:

  • Measuring your temperature
  • Checking your uterine position
  • Checking your sutures
  • Assessing your blood loss

For the baby this means:

  • Weighing them
  • Measuring your temperature
  • Measure their temperature
  • How they drink
  • Alertness
  • Sleeping behaviour
  • Whether they poop and pee well

Additionally, there is a lot of time for guidance with (breast) feeding and several feedings can be observed. A lactation consultant can also be present if desired.

The maternity nurse also provides a lot of information and instruction. Everything is reported and noted in the care file (the Growth Guide).

In addition, the baby is bathed, the bed and crib are changed, and the toilet and bathroom are cleaned.

The maternity nurse also ensures that meals can be used/prepared in the room.

The midwife is ultimately responsible for you during your maternity period. The maternity nurse and midwife are in close contact with each other.
